Welcome to Inver Grove Heights Community Schools. Our school district's vision is to create learning environments that provide for high student achievement so all learners are academically and socially prepared for life-long learning. The district has high academic standards and expectations, and a record of outstanding student achievement in and out of the classroom. Our staff is very proud and believes educating children at a high level is one of the most important jobs in the world. The school community is both proud and supportive of its schools and our effort to provide the best possible education for our 3,800 students.

I have had the opportunity to be Superintendent of Inver Grove Heights Community Schools since July of 2014. Prior to coming to Inver Grove Heights, I served as an administrator in the South Washington County Schools as an Assistant Superintendent and Principal. I have also served as an Elementary Principal with the Inver Grove Heights Community Schools and a teacher in Rosemount-Apple Valley Eagan Schools and Watertown, South Dakota Schools.

The Inver Grove Heights Community Schools has a wealth of opportunities for learners of all ages. We invite you to participate in these opportunities and to attend district events.

Superintendent Goals
2016-17

Leadership and Culture

·         Effectively and efficiently implement the district Strategic Plan. Components are:

o   Mission

o   Vision

o   Core Values

o   Strategic Directions

o   Classroom Theory of Action

o   Mission Delivery Point

o   Vision Card

o   Three Year Operation Plan

·         Effectively and efficiently address the School Board Three Year Agenda.

 

Organizational Management

·         Develop and implement structures, practices and relationships to support the District Office functioning as a service center to schools.

 

o   Implement, monitor and evaluate school improvement plan implementation necessary for improved student achievement.

o   Improve district and school security and safety by

1.      Establishing a district emergency management team.

2.      Partner with the city of Inver Grove Heights to conduct drills at district sites.

 

Communications and Community Engagement

·         Further establish and standardize two-way communication and engagement with students, staff, families, local leaders and the community to support engagement throughout the district.

 

o   Outreach to connect with the community to further connect and better understanding the issues within the community.

a.       Inquire, Inform, Inspire scheduled community sessions to connect individually with the community at various locations. 

b.      Develop and communicate district committee/advisory group opportunities application.  This will formalize and highlight the district level involvement opportunities for community members.

c.       Establish a Superintendents Advisory Council to:

o   Advise the Superintendent on issues/decisions and/or policy matters that the district is facing,

o   Be informed about the background, rationale, and decision-making processes made by the district throughout the year as issues arise,

o   Communicate issues and concerns raised by various stakeholders as represented by Superintendent's Advisory Council members,

o   Share the District's vision/mission with a variety of representative groups, and

o   Represent the specific community groups.

d.   Establish a District Student Advisory Council.

o   Provide the opportunity for student voice on issues/decisions and/or policy matters that the district is facing

o   Be informed about the background, rational, and decision-making processes

o   Communicate issues and concerns raised by students

o   Share the District’s vision/mission
