WELCOME FROM PRINCIPAL WENDEL

Principal Jodi Wendel

Welcome to Inver Grove Heights Middle School. My name is Jodi Wendel and I am excited to be starting my 25th year as an educator in IGH. This will be my 6th year as principal of this great school. I am also a former student of Inver Grove Heights Middle School and a Simley High School graduate. I am proud of the district that I grew up in and I am honored to work here!

IGHMS serves students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades with an enrollment of about 850 students. We have a dynamic staff of educators that love children, love teaching, and are committed to the success of each student. As middle level educators they identify with the unique combination of emotional growth and academic development that occurs during the young adolescent years. Teachers work in teams to address the needs of each student, creating a bridge that takes them from elementary to being well prepared for a rigorous high school program.

IGHMS offers enthusiastic and challenging instruction for students with a focus on exploratory learning experiences, supporting inquiry and reasoning skills and a focus on personalized relationships. IGHMS provides a balance of instruction in core academic subjects like math, science, social studies, English Language Arts, visual arts and musical performance along with STEM programming.  Our students eventually move into Simley High School for their grades 9-12 education. Understanding, as we do, that all young adolescents experience amazing growth in the three years they are within our middle school setting, we are attentive to the academic, social and emotional growth of all of our students. Together, we work as partners with families to help all children reach their full potential and be ready for high school and beyond. As we move forward in the 2018-19 school year, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions. You can reach me at 651-306-7202  wendeljo@isd199.org.

Have a great year!  GO SPARTANS!
